Youth In Mind will provide a 7-day per week drop-in service, benefitting over 1,000 young people experiencing mental health issues. The project will respond to each individual’s needs, supporting engagement in wellbeing activities at the Youth Zone, and linking to specialist services where needed.

Many young people lack trusted adults who they feel comfortable reaching out to during times of stress, anxiety, or emotional turmoil. Due to stigma, many young people are reluctant to access mental health support in clinical settings such as GPs or CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services). Mental health referrals have increased significantly in recent years and statutory services are struggling to meet demand, with young people often waiting months for an initial assessment.
The funding will support us to deliver a 7-day per week drop-in service for young people aged 7-19 (up to 25 with a disability) to come and seek support when they are struggling with their wellbeing, experiencing low mood, or feeling anxious. Each young person will receive a listening ear from a trusted Youth Worker who will give advice and guidance on managing their emotions. The young people will progress from the drop-in to access wellbeing activities and projects across the Youth Zone.
