Raising funds to continue our support of military veterans and serving personnel with their recovery and mental wellbeing using heritage, culture and the archaeology of the Battle of Waterloo. We need your support to continue helping those who served our country when they need it most.
Military veterans and serving personnel often suffer in silence with complex mental and physical injuries due to their time in service. Overcoming these challenges and transitioning into civilian life or continuing their military careers can be a difficult and isolating process for some and can result in unemployment, homelessness and untreated medical conditions. Over the past several years the Covid-19 Pandemic has increased many of these issues and increased the demand for our support.
Waterloo Uncovered brings together two quite different worlds – archaeology and veteran support – to create a unique offering. Involving veterans in archaeology brings their military experience to bear on the historical investigation, yielding insights that archaeologists often miss. Increasing the veterans understanding of the historical battlefield also helps them to put their own experiences of conflict into perspective, contributing to their recovery and helping them find peace from war.
