Mental ill-health is a major concern for Islington: 13% of its population live with depression (highest number in London), the suicide rate tops national average. 95% of our participants live with disability, or physical illness through inactivity, depression, and isolation. Most live in poverty (80% unemployed) so are disproportionately affected by the cost-of-living crisis. Marginalised communities (e.g. refugees, BAME) experience multiple barriers to support while being at high risk.

SLT’s free therapeutic art, nature and wellbeing activities build participants’ confidence, resilience and sense of community. NR will help isolated, vulnerable adult Islington residents from BAME backgrounds, with lived experience of mental health issues, break down multiple barriers to the wellbeing benefits of nature and the arts. Your donation will realise 24 free group visits to local nature and arts spaces where participants can connect, share experiences and support each other.
