    Situation

Women & children fleeing domestic abuse are faced with a number of difficult challenges, including mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Every day in the UK almost 30 women attempt suicide and every week 3 women take their own lives to escape domestic abuse. We've seen a 200% increase in women needing support with their mental health but with long waiting lists and a drastic decline in the services available for women, very few are able to access the support they need.

    Solution

BCWA have setup an inhouse counselling service where volunteer counsellors will provide one-to-one and group therapeutic sessions for victims of domestic abuse. We are seeking funding for the implementation of a garden office to provide the space needed for staff members to effectively support service-users. This will provide a confidential space within a warm and welcoming environment which can influence a victim-survivor’s sense of psychological and physiological wellbeing.
