    Situation

1 in 4 people will suffer from a mental health illness during their lives and ‘one person dies by suicide every 40 seconds’ (WHO 2019). Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 49. People don't know where to turn. People won't admit when they have a problem. People won't seek help. As a country we need to raise awareness that free, non judgmental mental health support is available to everyone! Just speaking openly about mental health may be the difference between life and death.

    Solution

Lamp uses a person-centred approach to each case that we support by taking the side of that person and working in partnership with them to secure inclusion, equality and social justice. We help them to say what they want, to secure their rights and to obtain the services that they need. Lamp’s advocacy provides people with the independence, clarity of purpose and equal opportunity to make a positive difference to their mental health journey and empowers them to rebuild their lives.
