Demand for mental health services in Milton Keynes continues to increase since the pandemic & is reflected in our growing waiting list of 100+ children in need–over 80% suffer with mental health challenges including anxiety & depression. Even if they were more readily available, traditional mental health services don’t work for many children. Without the right support there’s a high risk that children will suffer long-term mental ill health which will negatively impact on their future.

In response to growing demand, as of April 2023, Ride High is increasing the number of children it supports each week from 80 to 120. We’ll use horses as a vehicle to connect with vulnerable children; to give them something positive to focus their attention & aid their recovery. Our programme offers an alternative to more traditional interventions such as counselling that are over prescribed & often not as effective. Funding will allow us to buy a new horse to accommodate more children.
