    Situation

Being ill and needing medical treatment is difficult at any time but when you are a child, it is particularly confusing and scary. If you’ve ever been in hospital, you will know those feelings of missing home, being worried and scared, and struggling in strange surroundings. Hospital stays, or being isolated at home through children's eyes are all of these things, and more. Giggle Doctors have two years of training to equip them for this valuable work to improve children's mental health.

    Solution

Our Giggle Doctors are professional artistic performers including actors, magicians and storytellers and help children 0 to 18, take control through play, creating opportunities for children to take the lead and make their own choices. They always focus on the child and not their illness. Whether they have a diagnosed mental health difficulty, or are at risk of their mental health and wellbeing deteriorating. The Giggle Doctors also have a positive impact on parents and staff on the wards.
