Discover aims to develop a life-long love of stories. We promote play, communication and literacy through an extensive Community and Education Programme for East London’s children. We are raising funds to give away free tickets to local families during our 20th Birthday celebrations.

Situation
Discover works with children aged 0-11 who face challenges to their social and educational development, linked to the socioeconomic disadvantages they face growing up in Newham and East London. Some of the highest levels of child poverty in the UK are matched by the lowest cultural participation rates. As family and public resources become tighter, children growing up in low-income households have even less opportunity to engage with arts and culture.
Solution
Discover aims to contribute to a world where confident, thoughtful, articulate children grow up to shape a better future for all. Our unique offer engages children creatively in immersive story exhibitions, author/illustrator events and literacy projects. Over 100,000 children and families and 500 teachers participate in our activities each year. Our hands-on approach strengthens children’s confidence and promotes communication skills so that they can achieve their full potential.
