Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal in the world, and unless we act now, they could disappear forever. Every day, hundreds of pangolins are poached from the wild for their meat and scales. Fauna & Flora are working to curb the poaching and trafficking of pangolins.

Pangolins are the most trafficked wild mammal in the world. They are being poached from the wild at an alarming rate and trafficked around the world. Their scales are used in traditional medicines which have no Western scientific evidence, their meat is consumed as a delicacy, and their skins are carved into leather trinkets. Their habitat is also being destroyed by deforestation. If this continues, there will soon be no pangolins left in the wild.

We are equipping rangers across Africa to stop pangolin poaching at its source, and providing them with training to detect signs of pangolins in the habitats they patrol, and the signs that they are being poached. We are working with local law enforcement to provide training for customs officials to recognise pangolin scales, which are often disguised as nuts or woodchips, amongst shipments passing through key transit hubs.
