Our depot now has solar panels which give us free electricity. We wish to rent an electric van, to be powered by this electricity, to redistribute more food to charities and community organisations and to collect more food from retailers to prevent food waste and carbon emissions.

The problems we are solving are food waste, carbon emissions and people living in food poverty. By using the free electricity generated by the solar panels on our roof, we can use an electric van to redistribute more food to charities and community organisations across Greater Manchester and to make collections of donated food. This will save us fuel costs and will reduce carbon emissions as our current vans do not all meet the emissions standards needed for the Clean Air Zone due to start.

We will rent an electric vehicle which will be recharged using the free electricity generated by the solar panels on the roof of our depot. It will be able to make more deliveries and collections of food, thus increasing the amount of food that is used to feed humans rather than being put in an anaerobic digester and decreasing the amount of carbon emissions both by using solar power and by preventing food wastee
