Support Amazonian communities to plant native rainforest trees on their deforested farms. We use an agroforestry model which combines trees, crops & livestock so families generate a sustainable income. Our work tackles poverty through regenerative farming and climate change through tree planting.

Unsustainable slash-and-burn farming and ranching causes 90% of deforestation within the Peruvian Amazon, destroying biodiversity and contributing to climate breakdown. It traps low-income communities in a cycle of poverty. Typically, farmers using slash-and-burn agricultural techniques earn just £100 per month - this is barley enough to cover a family's basic needs and leaves them vulnerable to crisis. Farmers lack the training and support to change their situation and build resilience.

Farmers need a realistic alternative that will enable them to move away from slash-and-burn agriculture. Our agroforestry model offers this alternative: it's a tree-based agriculture system that combines planting crops, fruit trees and timber trees. This restores farmland to forest cover, and enables familie to diversify their income by cultivating and selling a variety of products. Our new silvopastoral model brings trees into the grazing landscape - including for both shade and fodder for cows.
