A green oasis sits in urban Bristol, surrounded by industrial units and high-rise developments. Beyond the gates, you'll find a haven of wildlife, vegetable gardens and farm animals. Please help us protect this unique space, which provides education about nature and the environment for local people.

Situation
Bedminster is one of the 20% most deprived neighbourhoods in the UK and there is a distinct lack of green space. It has the second lowest number of trees in Bristol and many local residents live in flats with limited access to natural, outdoor spaces. Huge development projects are set to increase the population by 40%, putting pressure on our valuable green spaces, wildlife and quality of life. We have also seen a significant rise in mental health challenges in the community since the pandemic.
Solution
Windmill Hill City Farm is a 4.5 acre green oasis in the heart of Bristol, a place where everyone can experience and learn about animals and plants, their environment and food production. It is a welcoming space for relaxing in, and a vital part of the community. We have 180 trees on site, and our gardens produce fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers, and encourage pollinators, nesting birds and bats. Visitors can step out of the city for a moment and meet our cows, pigs, goats and chickens.
