We are a Devon-based charity dedicated to protecting and promoting a positive understanding of the European otter and its conservation. We rescue and rehabilitate otter cubs or injured otters, giving them a home and care until they are ready to be released back into the wild.

    Situation

The Eurasian otter is still categorised as near-threatened on the IUCN red list of threatened species, although numbers in the UK have increased since receiving legal protection and the banning of industrial chemicals in the 1970's and onwards, they still face many threats. Many otter cubs are orphaned each year, we give them a second chance at survival through our care and rehabilitation.

    Solution

As a charity we provide otters with care that have become orphaned or sick and need recovery and assistance before heading back to the wild. We have created a specialist rehabilitation centre comprising of 19 enclosures, 2 cub rooms, a cub hospital and treatment room we have built a solid and well-respected platform for quality care and as such, we take in otters from many wildlife rescue centres, vets and the RSPCA (we are RSPCA approved).
