Honeypot supports young carers aged 5-12 who care for a loved one and perform a surrogate adult role, often single-handedly. Our programme of respite breaks, digital outreach and a Wellbeing Fund provides relief from taxing daily responsibilities, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and loneliness.

    Situation

Young carers perform a role far beyond their years, providing care for an often chronically or terminally-ill family member. Primarily they give emotional support in the home, but also take on practical tasks like cooking, cleaning and laundry. These responsibilities affect all areas of their life and over a third of our children struggle to concentrate at school, more than half suffer with loneliness, and nearly all say they lack confidence and self-esteem.

    Solution

Honeypot offers a Wrap-Round support model, consisting of services that address the unique needs of young carers. At the heart of our offer sit residential respite breaks, delivered across two beautiful, countryside houses. These are complemented by digital services including online themed workshops, and a Wellbeing Fund making grants of up to £250 to help young carers access necessary life items. We are also piloting a healthy eating and nutrition programme.
