Every child should be free to play. Domestic abuse has a traumatic impact on children of all ages. Witnessing violence can force children to grow up too quickly. Solace gives children a safe environment to be themselves, to play and to rebuild after abuse. Support them today.

Despite 1 in 7 children living with domestic abuse, children were only recently recognised as victims of domestic abuse, regardless of whether present during violent incidents in 2022. We see first hand the devastating impact of violence on children. In seeking safety, children are often forced to uproot their whole lives – they left their home, clothes, toys, school, friends and pets. They are forced to grow up quickly, without the space to play and just be children.

We aim to provide trauma-informed play sessions with our dedicated Play Workers across our 22 refuges, to provide fear- free spaces to be themselves and make sense of their trauma. Every session is designed based on the individual needs of each child. We will organise trips and activities to create new, positive memories and rebuild the bond between mum and child. By providing this dedicated early intervention, children will grow up to be safe, healthy, confident and resilient.
