A healthy planet needs a healthy ocean and that means more whales. Whales fight climate change in a big way by helping the ocean absorb carbon. Humans slaughtered up to 99% of some whale populations and so now we need to protect them and help them recover.

Our ocean is warming, ice caps are melting, and rivers are running dry. Scientists’ predictions are coming true, and rising temperatures are having a devastating impact on our world and our lives. But there is hope. Whales and dolphins are our giant allies in fighting the climate and biodiversity crises, yet only 1% of global climate finance goes to ocean projects. This needs to change now. We need to save the whale to save the world.

We know a lot about how trees and bees fight climate breakdown and help biodiversity, but not as much about how whales do. To convince policymakers to act, we need to get more evidence, quickly. So, we’ll fund groundbreaking research projects, using the latest technology, to gather data to give them the tools they need to understand how whales and dolphins are vital for a healthy ocean, locking away carbon and sustaining life as they live, feed, migrate and die.
