Our users are subject to multiple forms of VAWG and intersecting disadvantage. 74% are subject to domestic abuse, 69% to ‘honour’ based violence, and 24% sexual abuse (the real figure is likely far higher, but disclosures are stigmatised). These intersect and are driven by high rates of poverty and homelessness: nearly one in five (19%) of the women we supported last year were destitute and homeless; over half of all users (56%) live in insecure or overcrowded accommodation.

By providing bespoke support through our Advocates/support worker who provide emotional and practical support to victims. Support is trauma-informed and ranges from harm minimisation (78% of users), preparing MARAC cases (9%), and access to injunctions and legal recourse (25%). For women in crisis the emotional support by the Support Worker helps provide safe, continual contact enabling them to move away from the abusive situations and set up violence free lives.
