The project provides schools, nursing homes, children’s centres and community groups across Lincolnshire the opportunity to access, enjoy and gain real benefit from sensory resources and facilities, at no cost to them.We deliver sensory support to people and places it’s difficult to reach.

Rural and coastal isolation makes it difficult for many families to access support for their children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and sensory therapy is known to have many developmental and therapeutic benefits as well as improving feelings of well-being and happiness. We have found that rural schools tend to have a disproportionate amount of children with SEN as parents tend to prefer them to attend small village schools.

The Sensory Bus provides a sensory resource where it is most needed. We visit both mainstream and special schools, potential beneficiaries will be aged 4-11 years, and range from those with mild to severe learning difficulties. Our project will offer a 6-week loan of equipment to enable the family and individual to try equipment. In schools, we work with the children AND their teachers so that after the sessions end, the teachers know how to deliver the work and can continue it when we leave.
