Situation
Following the impact of COVID, and financial constraints secondary to this, Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) has been restricted in the breadth of clinical care that can be provided to patients and their families. The catchment area for patients has reduced, alongside reduced capacity to support crucial community outreach visits and clinics. Staff are receiving 80% of their salaries, with many staff volunteering to ensure that care can continue to be provided to those that need it most.
Solution
Hospice Africa UK is a volunteer led registered charity whose key role is to raise funds and provide support to enable operations in Africa to function effectively. Funds are raised through charity shops, individual donors, and fundraising events, totalling approximately £150,000 per year. In our 30th anniversary year, Hospice Africa UK is looking to widen awareness for the charity, increase the scope for fundraising opportunities and seek new donors.
