Independent rights-led advocacy is not accessible to most who need it when they need it, therefore removing barriers, upskilling and empowering people to self-advocate is crucial. Based on the results of our recent Human Rights survey, there is a significant percentage of people who either do not know their rights or are not confident in upholding them. Making your voice heard is much more difficult when you do not know what you are entitled to, becoming another barrier to access support.

POhWER volunteers will host drop ins at key locations, engage with relevant local organisations and attend community events to raise awareness of information, advice, advocacy services, inform people of their rights and build relationships with other local organisations for better collaborative working.
