The ongoing impact of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis is affecting people experiencing homelessness, poverty and inequity on many levels. Access to basic necessities is one of them. Less visible is the crisis relating to the mental health, wellbeing and confidence of those most at risk, as well as the decimation of opportunities available to them to make sustained life progress. The gap between the haves and the have nots in London and the UK continues to grow.

Cardboard Citizens creates theatre and creative training that explores and challenges social injustice and empowers individuals to make change in their own lives and in their communities. Our training programmes equip people experiencing homelessness and poverty with transferable skills and long-term, sustainable growth, underpinned by a supportive peer and sector network and pastoral care. Alongside this, our theatre programme brings communities together to explore, interrogate, and challenge the injustices that are most alive in our society today.
