Situation
Ovarian cancer will "affect 1 in 50 women in their lifetime". Symptoms are often vague and there is no screening programme, meaning that many people are diagnosed at a late stage. It is a less common cancer and some people with ovarian cancer will never meet someone else with a diagnosis. Many are also are living with compromised immunity, and many are not able to access support locally. Treatment can be complex and many people find the systems and options hard to navigate.
Solution
We provide free information and support to anyone affected by ovarian cancer. This includes people who have either been diagnosed with the disease, those at risk, friends, family and healthcare professionals. We support around 18,000 people annually through our various support services as well as our support groups, online workshops, webinars and a range of expert factually accurate information resources. Our work has been recognised through a number of national award nominations as excellent.
