In the context of Myanmar's current political instability, thousands of vulnerable adults and children risk dying from HIV/AIDS due to a lack of treatment. At a cost of £300 per person, we are able to supply medicines and the necessary associated medical care to save a person's life for a year.

Situation
The AIDS epidemic in Myanmar is amongst the worst in Asia. An estimated 240,000 people are infected with HIV and tens of thousands of people are in urgent need of life-saving anti-retroviral medicines (ARVs). The military take-over and COVID had devastating effects on the country. Widespread fighting, economic devastation, a nation-wide strike, most hospitals closed. Many HIV patients are now turning to the clinics of our partner organisation - MAM - to get their necessary medicines.
Solution
We are funding our partner in Myanmar - Medical Action Myanmar (MAM) www.medicalactionmyanmar.com - to provide a comprehensive package of ARV treatment (including doctors, nurses, medicines, tests and counselling). It costs only around £300 per annum to provide this for each person. These medicines and treatments are life-saving. We will supply the ARVs to keep as many vulnerable adults and children alive as long as possible.
