We empower communities in the Peruvian Amazon to adopt agroforestry. This type of regenerative agriculture brings trees and fertility back to deforested farms and provides families a sustainable income, important tree canopy habitat for fauna, as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Driven by extreme poverty, many families are left with no choice but to cut down the rainforest to grow short-term and low-value crops, simply as a way to subsist. Without the presence of trees, this cleared land is fundamentally not suited to farming and quickly loses fertility. When the rainforest is cut down through slash-and-burn, the protection of the canopy is lost and the fertile soils become vulnerable, quickly washed away by the heavy tropical rains.
Working with communities at the grassroots, we provide the training and resoures needed for families to transform degraded/deforested farmland into thriving “agroforestry” — an environmental friendly approach that combines native fruit and timber trees with shade crops (providing short, medium and long-term income). Our local team of experts provide hands-on training to families as well as capacity-building. workshops, supporting communities with establishing sustainable farming businesses.
