Current water level measuring technology is expensive and requires well trained staff and strong institutional structures to support data collection. In addition, the allocation of finance in the water sector is understandably prioritised to water supply and sanitation. The monitoring of water levels across the world is marginalised but it is a powerful tool for long term sustainable management of water resources; this is increasingly important in relation to population growth and climate change

We will help solve this problem by providing an effective, low cost, and easy to use water level measuring tool that does not require users to be technical or have significant training. It will reduce the challenges and costs of collecting vital data for water providers and water regulators so they can improve access to water and protection of supplies. We will use this tool to support the development of our numerous groundwater monitoring programmes in Africa and the Middle East.
