Help us fund professional Theatre in Education performances of Mark Wheeler’s verbatim play ‘I Love You, Mum – I Promise I Won’t Die’ in London schools in spring 2023, empowering 1,000 teenagers to make safer choices about drugs and alcohol. Each performance is followed by an interactive workshop.

Government data shows young people’s exposure to drugs is increasing, as is the number using drugs. Social media is increasingly making access to drugs easy and normalising use. UK drug deaths have continued to rise. Drug and alcohol education is vital for all young people, to enable them to face choices about drugs safely, but there’s a huge lack of accessible, effective, evidence-based resources and support for schools, parents and professionals, making them more at risk of coming to harm.

Our flexible approach to drug education involves young people, parents, teachers and professionals, and a range of methods to give the information and life skills needed. Drama is a powerful way to communicate with young people, and Mark Wheeller’s play 'I Love You, Mum’ has become a core part of our vision to support young people to make safer choices and reduce harm, through increasing their understanding of the effects and risks of drugs, and improving their life skills and resilience.
