In a time of growing online abuse against the LGBTQ+ community, it is essential that LGBTQ+ folks and their allies know how to look after themselves and each other, how to report and block abusers, and how to hold tech platforms accountable.

Online hate crimes and abuse against the LGBTQ+ community are on the rise, in a time where (since the start of the pandemic) internet usage has increased 70%. This silences the voices of an already marginalised community online, and pushes LGBTQ+ folk out of public life. In 2020, Galop found that 91% of LGBT respondents to their Hate Crime Report were unaware of online platforms to report online hate and/or resources designed to support LGBT+ victims of online abuse. We want to change that.

Glitch is a specialist organisation delivering workshops and training for marginalised communities & their allies on staying safer online, the role of the online active bystander and the value of digital self-care. We will deliver three specialist workshops - one specifically for LGBTQ+ people of colour, one for all LGBTQ+ folks, and one for allies of the community - providing tools and advice to stay safer online, and a supportive space to share experiences, learn together and build community.
