We’re creating resources to build the widest reaching, Girl-led Festival in the UK in 2023. Made with girls and non-binary young people from underrepresented backgrounds, our resources will enable 1K+ young people to take part in a nationwide festival, inspiring action for gender equality.

As recognised by the United Nations, girls routinely face gender injustice. Their voices are minimised, they are told their concerns are trivial, their aspirations unrealistic. These disparities begin in childhood and are exacerbated for marginalised girls who face multiple disadvantages. Young people need to see that this is not inevitable: girls’ ideas matter; their talent and ability to lead and create deserves celebration. Striving for a gender equal world, means a better world for everyone.

Building on 12 years’ work developing the power of girls and our expertise as Festival-makers, WOW will bring together a diverse, intersectional Girl-led community to create resources with artists and activists. These resources will enable 1K+ young people to actively participate in a UK-wide Girls Festival. Working in partnership with schools and community organisations, festival activity will explore gender justice and foreground girls’ power to lead change through creativity and activism.
