Over the last few years, many children and young people have been unable to play, explore or learn about the great outdoors. Because of this, we have seen more young people seek mental health support (77%, NHS Digital 2022); and more children who want to protect the environment but don’t know where to start (82%, Nature England 2021). The pandemic, cost of living and job insecurity have all contributed to a situation where many families cannot budget for play, adventures or outdoor education.

Woodcraft Folk will host over 30,000 night stays in 2023, providing opportunities for children and young people to have adventures and learn about the environment. We reduce financial barriers through subsidies and free places. Residentials include: - AWE residentials focusing on mental health and wellbeing - Activity weekends at our centres for all age groups, and those new to Woodcraft Folk - Venturer Camp, a youth-led camp for 13-16 year olds - Residential leadership training for volunteers
