The programme will build on Windle's unique experience to invest in the skills of young people affected by conflict across the Eastern Africa region including refugees and will seek to promote access to high value education and training to equip those trained with the skills to build peace.

Refugees and other conflict-affected communities across the region lack access to education and training, especially in key skills areas which can enable them to bring about positive change. Many girls and women fail to acquire key skills. This programme builds on the work that Windle and others are doing in general education of marginalised groups and addresses the lack of opportunity at the post secondary level in the target countries.

The solution is to advocate for greater investment in skills training, to work with educational and training institutions and to provide practical support to enable students to access training and not drop out. By supporting a significant number of young people in training the project will directly address the lack of opportunity and will provide an example to others of what can be done.
