1,400 people are living with HIV in the Bristol area. Bristol has a high prevalence for HIV with Black African and Caribbean communities almost twice as likely to receive a late diagnosis. We have a large migrant and asylum-seeking population. Our migrant clients have always been the most vulnerable, presenting with a range of practical and emotional needs.

We meet the needs of these newly diagnosed individuals through a joined-up pathway of peer support, newly diagnosed groups and intensive one-to-one support. Through our specialist social worker’s person-centred approach, we effectively respond to the varied needs of destitution, the need for legal representation, community care provision, homelessness and housing issues, mental health, access to health services, education and training, and navigating the complex immigration system in the UK.
