London Friend is the UK’s oldest LGBTQ+ charity, providing mental health and wellbeing support. Volunteer-led, we have been delivering life-changing work to LGBTQ+ Londoners since 1972. We celebrate our 50th birthday in 2022 and are fundraising to help us continue to provide our services.

Our services improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ people. We work with people who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation, or who are experiencing difficulties at different times in their lives. These include mental health and wellbeing issues; HIV and other sexual health issues; and issues around alcohol or drug use. We also engage LGBTQ+ volunteers with lived experience of the health issues we support in the delivery of support to their peer communities.

We offer direct one to one and group support to LGBTQ+ people. We run support, social and activity groups, including coming out-groups; a trans and non-binary group; social groups and drop-ins; and activities like writing, crafting, walks and visits. We also offer more structured one-to-one support including counselling; support for people affected by domestic abuse; HIV prevention and sexual health support; and help with alcohol or drug issues.
