Situation
Wicketz is about improving the prospects of young people facing the challenges of inequality. Wicketz aims to tackle local issues affecting young people and their communities. Alongside cricket coaching and games, the young people taking part have the chance to learn from role models, community leaders, local authorities and others. Specially designed workshops also boost well-being, social education, and community awareness, promote positive life choices and develop new life skills.
Solution
Cricket remains the catalyst to bring young people together. Wicketz offers safe and fun environments in which to interact. The key focus is playing together, communicating through sport and interacting together for what can be the first-ever time – through sport. Specially designed workshops boost well-being, social education, community awareness, and promote positive life choices. Participants have positive role models and focused activity, as an alternative to anti-social behaviour.
