Every year, around 15,000 babies in the UK are born with a disfigurement, and many more children acquire one during childhood. Yet so many children and their families don’t get the support they need. Help fund the UK's only counselling and wellbeing service for families affected by disfigurement.

“When we got him home and I took him out in a pram, people’s reactions were hard to deal with – they would visibly react. When you have a child who looks different, suddenly the rest of the world seems to focus on that. The stares, the comments. It’s a whole other challenge to manage and can be exhausting at times”. (Kate, William’s Mum) If your child has a disfigurement, life can be hard. Parents can feel huge joy, alongside guilt & grief for the ‘perfect’ child. Their baby may need surgery when just days old. Growing up, children can face bullying & comments. Yet with the NHS under pressure, families affected by disfigurement are waiting too long for help
"I was desperate, really desperate to know that we weren’t on our own. That there were other people who had trodden this path before. I wanted to know that William was going to be okay. I’m just hugely relieved that the charity is there… It really helps to know we are not alone". (Kate, William’s Mum) Changing Faces provides the UK’s only free counselling & wellbeing service for parents of children born with a disfigurement. Without Changing Faces, there is simply no one there to support the thousands of families affected by disfigurement.
