This Christmas we are launching a Hardship Fund for victims of domestic abuse, to provide relief from financial hardship for women and children affected by domestic abuse.

Situation
More than two-thirds of survivors of domestic abuse report their partners withhold money from them as a key method of controlling and mistreating them. Victims of domestic abuse face the choice of their families being plunged into homelessness and poverty, or staying with their abuser. The situation is becoming more acute as the cost of living crisis hits the poorest families hardest. We tend to see a rise in referrals to our Advice Line at Christmas as domestic abuse cases increase.
Solution
Stop Domestic Abuse provides support, advice and information to victims of domestic abuse as well as a safe place to live for women and children when they can not stay in their own homes. This Christmas we want to launch a hardship fund, offering women funds for Christmas gifts, food, clothes and days out. Applications for hardship funds will be submitted by women through their key workers and refuge support teams, and applications will be assessed by our Operations Director.
