In these extremely challenging times, we want to offer free theatre tickets and transport to disadvantaged communities, ensuring that the most vulnerable groups in the City are able to enjoy the benefits of watching live performance. For many this will be their first ever experience of theatre. We are attempting to raise a total of £10,000 for this project.

Despite the benefits of engaging with the arts, many people are unable to afford activities like theatre visits. 51% of children in Birmingham live in the 10% most deprived areas in England. Many groups, such as refugees and asylum seekers have no access to support or cultural provision. Despite the offer of free tickets, some would still be unable to cover the cost of travel. Covid-19 also forced families to miss out on valuable shared experiences, making such opportunities now more vital.

We will offer free tickets and transport to disadvantaged children and isolated adults across Birmingham. We will work with our expert community partners such as Migrant Help UK and Neighbourhood Network Schemes (known as NNS) in Birmingham to ensure our offer is sufficiently targeted and reaches the most vulnerable groups. The recipients will include recently arrived refugees and asylum seekers, isolated older people and children on free school meals.
