This project is to raise funds for essential hospital equipment for CURE Ethiopia Children’s Hospital. CURE Ethiopia provides free surgical care to children with correctable disabilities. With the addition of new & upgraded equipment we can provide operations to hundreds more children annually!
We conservatively estimate that there are 2.7 million children in Ethiopia suffering with disabilities that can be treated surgically, however 93% of the population of sub-Saharan Africa cannot access timely, affordable, safe surgical care. CURE Ethiopia is directly addressing this chronic burden of surgical disease, providing free surgical care to children with motor disabilities, however the hospital has a waiting list of over 5,000 children, & needs to expand to meet the demand on its services
By 2024, CURE Ethiopia aims to increase its surgical capacity by 25% (to 4,000 surgeries annually). The hospital plans to do this by expanding and upgrading its current resources, including a surgical centre upgrade and expansion of the children's ward. But we cannot do this without resourcing the hospital with additional and upgraded medical equipment for surgical and diagnostic services. Through this CURE Ethiopia can increase the number of children receiving operations annually by hundreds.
