SMA is a rare disease, with about 100 babies born each year with the condition and around 1400 people living with it in the UK. For those affected, the need for accurate, up to date information on the latest treatments, care and services available is paramount. SMA is a complex condition that requires specialist support. The SMA Community also need the opportunity to share their experiences with one another and an organisation who will advocate for them in times of crisis.

The SMA UK Outreach Team work hard to make sure that everyone affected by SMA has practical and emotional support when they reach out to us. We keep our Community updated with the most recent and relevant information which is presented in an understandable way. We are increasing the frequency and range of our digital communications through Podcasts and social media. With some in person events planned for 2022, we are looking to expand our Information and Support events further again in 2023.
