Situation
Having nowhere to call home is a traumatising experience, leading to increased isolation and marginalisation. People affected by homelessness need more than a roof over their heads to recover – they need to be seen and heard, to feel valued and be part of a meaningful community. People affected by homelessness now also face increased challenges because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Solution
In these times of need our work has never been more necessary in order to reduce isolation and provide vital creative engagement opportunities for people affected by homelessness. Research shows that arts can improve the lives of homeless people. Evidence shows group singing brings a sense of achievement resulting in improved self-esteem and physical benefits, and there is a link between active participation in music and alleviating depression and improving social interaction skills.
