Situation
The rise in mental health needs amongst children, young people and families has grown on an unprecedented scale over the last two years, with research showing that covid-related trauma, isolation, anxiety and depression are having a disproportionate impact on those living in poverty. Demand for therapeutic services outweighs supply, as vulnerable clients experience increased emotional, social and financial challenges, as well as reintegrating into, and navigating, a society touched by trauma.
Solution
WLAC is a small, independent charity providing free, time-unlimited, solution-focused, strengths-based counselling and therapy services for children, young people and families on low incomes who are in need, yet who may not be able to access similar services elsewhere. Our qualified and experienced team of therapists work flexibly with clients, focusing on strengths, supporting them to make long term change, and helping children and young people to fulfil their potential.
