We're raising funds to pay for a tree expert who'll work with volunteers planting new trees and hedgerows. Our local area has been damaged by pollution and development, and climate change affects us all. Our project will tackle these issues and support people to learn skills and grow in confidence.

Situation
1: In Stroud and surrounding area, there are many people who are not engaged with the labour market or with training. This may be because of physical or mental health issues, criminal record, disability, age, cultural barriers, low confidence, or other factors. They may experience low mood or poor health, and they may be more likely to participate in harmful or criminal behaviour. 2:Globally and locally, pollution and development are contributing to soil erosion, flooding and climate change.
Solution
1: Our woodland wizard will work with volunteers on the project, listening to them and enabling them to engage in work they find rewarding; teaching them new skills; and helping them to become more confident. 2: Planting new native woodland in our area will reduce the chance of flooding, improve soil quality and reduce pollution. As one young woodland can capture 400 tonnes of carbon per hectare, our planting will also make a difference to climate change on a national and global level.
