Honeypot supports young carers aged 5-12 who are bearing the heavy load of caring for a loved one, often single-handedly. We have established a Wellbeing Fund making grants that support these children with access to items that can have a transformative impact on their lives.

Situation
Young carers perform a role far beyond their years looking after a loved one, often a chronically or terminally ill parent or sibling. These children put the needs of others first, regularly missing out on hobbies, sports or social activities that could help to provide respite from their day to day caring role. Some children come from households facing severe financial challenges, where no resource can be spared towards items that many of us may take for granted.
Solution
Honeypot has established a Wellbeing Fund making grants of up to £250 to help young carers access items that can make a positive improvement to their lives. Grants may support with the purchase of practical items, like a desk or laptop, may be made towards the costs of hobbies, like dancing or art, or may help children to enjoy healthy lifestyles, like a bike, or swimming lessons. Each application is closely assessed to ensure it can have real, visible impact on wellbeing.
