The Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland is for everyone who cares about our wild plants. Since 1836, we've been promoting the study, understanding and enjoyment of British and Irish botany. Will you help us secure our flora and build a passion for wild plants into the future?

Situation
The UK is fast becoming one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. Between 1932 and 1984, we lost 97% of our species-rich grassland, and much of our wildlife-rich habitat has continued to be lost or degraded, with many once-common species are in long-term decline. But there is hope - In May 2021, the Environment Bill was amended to include a target for species abundance for 2030, aiming to halt the decline of nature. To achieve this, we need skills, data and citizen action.
Solution
As one of the world’s largest contributors of biological records, we supply the scientific data used by policy-makers, conservation bodies and academia to safeguard our environment. With your support, we can reach, train and help more people directly participate in citizen science and plant conservation to make more change happen more quickly. With over 3,500 volunteer botanists already supporting us, we are ready to partner with the next generation of botanists.
