Many women are vulnerable, disadvantaged, and isolated in their pregnanc and urgently need practical and emotional support. Many of our clients are from disadvantaged areas, live in poverty or face inequalities in childbirth and maternity services. Infant mortality in Birmingham is almost twice the national average. •75% of service users present depression or anxiety disorders •60% of our Doula clients are from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds • 49% are asylum seekers and refugees

Our Doula project helps provide the additional services women and their babies desperately need to give them the best chances of positive outcomes during their pregnancies, in labour and throughout the early years of parenting. We will provide parental education classes with translators available, a mother and baby group and a peer support worker for those who have experienced the loss of a baby.
