We want to raise funds to increase our capacity to help more women from Luton and Central Bedfordshire who have experienced abuse. The funds will help pay for a Practitioner to provide trauma-informed one to one emotional and practical support to enable women to move on positively and independently

Situation
90% of the women we help have experienced abuse. The pandemic has had a devastating impact on their lives; intensifying the challenges they already faced. Socially, they have become more isolated; detrimentally impacting their emotional and mental health. Finances are strained; with many forced to choose between food, heating and digital data. Many have young children and struggle to navigate complex statutory processes. Local demand for our help is huge; our waiting list grows monthly.
Solution
We want to secure our all female frontline Practitioner team, some of whom have lived experience of abusive relationships. They provide trauma-informed one to one emotional and practical support to women as well as delivering group programmes including Own my Life, Beyond Trauma and Anger. This is delivered from either our women’s only centre in Luton, by phone or online. The Practitioner creates both a safety and action plan to address specific needs and can advocate with statutory services.
