The Blackheath Conservatoire believes in the power of the arts to change lives. This bursary scheme offers free, high quality classes in music, art and drama, to children who could otherwise not afford it. Our activities cover the London boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich.

Opportunities for creative enrichment are increasingly being side-lined in school curriculums. Our Lewisham and Greenwich communities have high proportions of children living in economic deprivation, who have poor access to the arts and are missing out on the benefits to child development that an artistic education can bring.

Our bursaries provide free access to classes in music, art and drama to children from low income families from the boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich. The Blackheath Conservatoire welcomes over 2000 students of all ages through its doors each week. Classes are taught by professional musicians, artists and drama practitioners. In the past year we have been able to offer around 140 free places to children from low income families. We're fundraising to develop and expand this work through 2024.
