Situation
Many military veterans and serving personnel suffer from mental and physical injury due to their time in service. Overcoming these challenges and transitioning into civilian life or continuing their military careers can be a difficult and isolating process for some and can result in unemployment, homelessness and untreated medical conditions. While there are many charities that provide front line services to veterans there are not as many that help them achieve long term recovery and happiness.
Solution
Waterloo Uncovered combines involvement in world-class archaeology on the Waterloo Battlefield with a programme of education and wellbeing support for military veterans and serving personnel. The innovative and holistic approach to support helps them to build tangible skills, improved overall wellbeing, confidence, new support networks, and the tools they need to move forward with their recoveries and build happy and fulfilling lives.
