Situation
Global Ecovillage Network addresses the complexity of the modern crises: environmental destruction intertwined with injustice, societal breakdown, economic vulnerability of local communities, and cultural loss of traditional and indigenous groups. Ecovillages redesign and pilot a different model of society, holistically integrating ecological solutions, alternative economy, social structures, and interconnected cultural worldview – and offer a systemic response to the local and global pain.
Solution
GEN weaves grass-root actions into a systemic movement for global change. We facilitate spreading and practicing of ecovillage solutions on all continents, engaging people in environmental and social restoration. We link existing communities for mutual support, share best practices and support new initiatives; we provide education and capacity building; engage in post-disaster regions for community-led rebuilding;we advocate for and foster fundamental behaviour shifts for systemic change.
