The impact of major physical trauma is a life changed in a moment: physically, emotionally, financially. NHS clinical care is world-leading, but by its admission, major trauma patients are being failed at the point of discharge. There is a difference between the support available and future outcomes of people who are insured and those who aren't; people who access legal and financial advice and those who don't; people who have emotional and psychological support and those who don't.

Day One exists to address the inequity and bring holistic support to everyone affected by major trauma. The support we provide includes: emergency funding so loved ones can be nearby in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic incident, that essentials and specialist equipment (not available on the NHS) can be purchased to aid recovery and rehab; no obligation legal and financial support; counselling for family members; peer support for patients; training and education for clinicians.
