Our charity trains local Activists, who are often survivors of FGM, in basic media skills. They then go on radio and TV to argue the case for why FGM must end. We give them small grants, so that they can also devise and pay for radio/TV Ads that can follow. Our simple tried & tested model works.

91% of women aged 15-49 have undergone some type of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Mali (source: UNFPA). FGM is not just a moral crime against innocent girls. It is a tragedy that impacts their whole life. Not just impacting their health (they have a greater risk of death at childbirth - as does their child). But FGM also means their education is ended as they are married off. In short, their life potential is compromised with the single brutal act of FGM. We can stop this happening.

We train Activists, who are often FGM 'survivors', in basic media skills so that they can work in their own communities to end FGM. Often this can mean getting 'influencers', such as Doctors or Religious Leaders, to go onto local community radio or TV with them, to talk about why FGM is wrong or unnecessary. We also give them small grants to devise and pay for radio Ads (they are surprisingly inexpensive). Our simple tried & tested strategy changes many minds & actions. And saves many Girls.
